Looking at this image of Shannon standing on a stone wall conjures up thoughts of some far away Mediterranean island. You can feel the warm breeze coming off the ocean and experience the deep blue colors of the Mediterranean sea.
In fact, this image was not taken on some warm Mediterranean island, but at John Boyd Thatcher State Park in Voorheesville, NY. Shannon, our model, was standing on a stone bench in the Overlook area. A few tonal adjustments give this image a Mediterranean feel. Who knew that you could dream of Mediterranean vistas so close to Albany, NY.
This image was one of the photos taken at the recent Fantasy Fashion Photo Shoot sponsored by Ken's Portrait Photography. For the Fantasy Fashion Photo Shoot, Shannon is wearing an eighteen-foot satin silk flying dress. The wind at John Boyd Thatcher State Park was ideal for the photo shoot, creating grand billows in the flying dress.
You can see the original image of Shannon below. In order to give the image a timeless and mysterious look, I needed to make a few adjustments. I had to remove the power lines visible in the photo along with the buildings of the SUNY Albany campus that can be seen in the background. Add in a little cropping and a few tonal adjustments and you can be transported to a different time and place.
